NO SONG FOR GOD IN A STRANGE LAND

Psa 137:4  How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land?

I.    WE WILL BE DEFEATED WHEN DWELLING IN A STRANGE LAND.

Psa 137:1  By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

Psa 137:2  We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.

II.  WE WILL BE PRISONERS OF WORLDLINESS WHEN DWELLING IN A STRANGE LAND.

Psa 137:3  For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

III.  WE WILL BE SPEECHLESS FOR CHRIST WHEN DWELLING IN A STRANGE LAND.

Psa 137:6 A  If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy.

IV.  WE WILL BE UNFAITHFUL WHEN DWELLING IN A STRANGE LAND.

Psa 137:3  For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

Psa 137:4  How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land?

     A. ZION  - TYPE OF THE CHURCH.

     B. WHEN YOU LAY OUT OF CHURCH, CAN YOU SING , {OH HOW I LOVE JESUS,  WE ARE MARCHING TO ZION,  OLD COUNTRY CHURCH?}

V.  WE WILL SPEND GOD’S MONEY ON SIN AND SELF WHEN DWELLING IN A STRANGE LAND.

Luke 6:38  Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Mal 3:10  Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

VI.  TO BE LOST IS DWELLING IN A STRANGE LAND.

Acts 4:12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Luke 19:10  For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

VII.  THE SAVED CAN SING A SONG FOR THE LORD.

THANK GOD I CAN SING.
A. AMAZING GRACE

Eph 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

B.  POWER IN THE BLOOD.

Heb 9:22  And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without
shedding of blood is no remission.

C .  AT THE CROSS

Gal 6:14  But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

                    D. JOY UNSPEAKABLE.

1 Pet 1:8  Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

E.  WHEN WE ALL GET TO HEAVEN.

2 Cor 5:1  For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

F.  I’LL MEET YOU IN THE MORNING.

1 Th 4:16  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

1 Th 4:17  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

1 Th 4:18  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
