THE IMPORTANCE OF GOD’S WORD

 

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

 

I.        THE WORD OF GOD IS A GIFT

Psalms 68:11 The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

 

II.     THE WORD OF GOD IS LIGHT

Psalms 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

 

III.    THE WORD OF GOD IS FOOD

I Peter 2:2 As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that  ye  may  grow thereby:

 

IV.    THE WORD OF GOD IS PURE

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Psalms 119:140 Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.

 

V.   THE WORD OF GOD IS FAITHFUL

Titus 1:9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may  be  able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers

 

VI.    THE WORD OF GOD IS POWERFUL

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and  powerful,  and sharper  than  any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Luke 4:32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

 

VII.    THE WORD OF GOD IS LIFE

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing:  the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Philippians 2:16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

          John 6:68  Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go?  

          thou hast the words of eternal life.

 

VIII.    THE WORD OF GOD IS COMFORTING

1 Thessalonians 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

 

IX.      THE WORD OF GOD IS TRUTH

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

II Timothy 2:15  Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Psalm 119:160  Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
