FOUR CORNERSTONES TO BUILD YOUR HOME UPON

Matthew 7:24-27

Mat 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Mat 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Mat 7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
Mat 7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Introduction: Carpenters builds houses. God builds homes. The home and family life begin at the marriage altar. It takes continuous building to make a home what it ought to be, however, your building is in vain if you do not have the right foundation to build upon. The following cornerstones will give your family something to build a strong home upon.

I.     CORNERSTONE  #1 - CONSECRATION

A.  Dedication to the Saviour,

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

B.  Death to the Self-life,

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

C.  Devotion to your Spouse,

Ephesians 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

  II.     CORNERSTONE  #2- CONVICTIONS

If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything"

A. There must be some Definite Do's

1.    Concerning Your Family

Family Dedication, Family Discipline, Family Devotions

2.    Concerning Faithfulness

To Christ, To the Church, To the Calling of God

3.    Concerning Forgiveness, (Neither of you are perfect)

B.  There must be some Definite Don'ts

1.     Concerning your dialect

2.     Concerning your dress

3.     Concerning your deeds

VOWS ARE VALUABLE-Don't be afraid to make some.

Ill.     CORNERSTONE  #3 - COMMITMENT

A. To Your Wedding Vows

B.  To Worthwhile Values

C.  To Walk Victoriously

IV.     CORNERSTONE  #4- COMMUNICATION

A. You must learn to discuss without arguing,

B.  You must learn to disagree without getting angry,

C.  You must learn to drop it" without animosity,

What do we need to talk about:

1.  What he likes

2.  What she likes

3.  What God likes

The real Secret to having a good home and family life is to make the Lord Jesus Christ the CHIEF CORNERSTONE. If everything is connected to Him properly, he will hold everything together.
