GOD'S PLAN FOR FEEDING 

THE HUNGRY MULTITUDE

Matthew 14:15-21

 

Intro:  Perhaps no other story in the Bible so displays the sufficiency of our Lord as this one does. Also it shows the importance of everyone being obedient and faithful in doing their part in the Lord's work.

 

I.          NOTICE THE PROBLEMS...v 15

Mat 14:15 And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.

A.          The people were hungry.

B.          The place was deserted...

C.          The period was late...

 

II.          NOTICE THE PROCLAMATIONS...v 15-16

Mat 14:15 And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.
Mat 14:16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

A.          The Disciples said, "send them away"

B.          The Divine said, "Feed them, they need not depart"

 

III.          NOTICE THE PROGRAM...

A.          The inventory...v 17 (What have you got)

Mat 14:17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

B.          The investment. ; v 18 (Bring them hither to me)

Mat 14:18 He said, Bring them hither to me.

C.          The involvement..,v 18-19

Mat 14:18 He said, Bring them hither to me.
Mat 14:19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

1.   The offering of the lad

2.   The obedience of the multitude

3.   The order of the giving...

(to the Lord and He to the disciples, and they to the multitude) No person who is too big or busy to Sit himself at the feet of God's men in the local church will be fed from the Master's table.

 

IV. NOTICE THE PROOF...v 20

Mat 14:20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

A.          The filled multitude... 

B.          The fragments that remained...

 

V.          NOTICE THE PRINCIPLE...

A.          A little lad

B.          A little lunch

C.          A big Lord, and

D.          A lot of leftovers

 

The Lord would not bless the lunch until it was given into His hands, neither will He bless your life until it is given unreserved into the hands of God.

 

When the lad offered his lunch to the Lord, He took it, blessed it, and then He brake it, and used it to feed the multitude. He will do the same with your life.. Give it to Him now... "BRING IT HITHER TO ME...
