Text: II Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

  As you travel the hiways you see many caution signs. Construction signs, railroad crossing, school zones.

  I want to look at some caution signs that God places on the hiway of life to stop sinners from going into hell for eternity.

  I. THE PREACHING OF THE SCRIPTURES... I Cor. 1:21

1 Cor 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

    A. This reveals God's Plan.. .John 5:39;  I Pet. 1:23

John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
1 Pet 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

   B. This releases God's Power...Rom. 1:16

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

  II. THE PRAYING OF THE SAINTS...

   A. Lays claim on the promises of God... Matt. 7:7-8

Mat 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Mat 7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
 B. Looses conviction on the person's guilt... ll Cor. 7:10

2 Cor 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

  lll. THE PLEADING OF THE SPIRIT...

   A. The Spirit must draw.. John 6:44; Gen. 6:3

John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Gen 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

   B. The Spirit must direct.,.John 16:15

John 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you.

In so doing, He welcomes the repentant, and warns the rejecting ones.

 

IV. THE PROVIDENCE OF THE SURROUNDINGS...

There are no accidents with our God.

   A. God speaks thru: Suffering, Sickness, Sorrow & Shadows

   B. God speaks thru: Troubles, Trials, Tears and Tragedies

 

V. THE POWER OF THE SOUL...

   A. The warning of the conscience

   B. The weighing of the consequence

 

VI. THE PLACE OF THE SKULL...John 19:17

John 19:17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:
Every sinner that goes to hell will go around the call of God to repentance.

   A. The debt that was paid... lsa. 53:5-6; I Peter 3:18

Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Isa 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

1 Pet 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
   B. The door that was provided...John 10:9

John 10:9  I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
