21:12-17
John 21:12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.
John 21:13 Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise.
John 21:14 This is now the third time that Jesus showed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.
John 21:15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
John 21:16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
John 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

Intro:
There is so much said today about
loving the Lord.
We need to realize that love is expressed in actions
and not just in our words.....
Cp John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Notice:
Love for a companion makes a
sweetheart do many things.
Love for a company makes a servant do
many things
Love for Christ makes a saint do many
things for him...
I.
LOVE FOR CHRIST PRODUCES FAITHFULNESS.... John 14:15
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
1.
Faithfulness to the Word...Psalm 1:1-3; Psalm 119:11
Psa 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Psa 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Psa 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Psa 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Faithfulness to the Worship. .Heb 10:25; Eph 3:21
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Eph 3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Faithfulness in our Walk....I John 2:6; 1 John 1:7
1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Notice:
--Walk
in love.....Eph 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling
savour.
--Walk
in light...Eph 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
--Walk
in learning....Eph 5:15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

Faithfulness in our Witnessing...Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Faithfulness in our Warfare......II Tim 2:3
Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
II.
LOVE FOR CHRIST PRODUCES FELLOWSHIP.
1.
With Christ.
V 23;
John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

With the Church...Eph 3:21
Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

With other Christians.. I

John 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
III.
LOVE FOR CHRIST PRODUCES FULLNESS OF JOY.. ..V 28
1.
Because of his presence...John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
2.
Because of his peace......John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
3.
Because of his promise...John 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
