When Answers Do Not Come

Do you ever wonder and sometimes almost despair,

When you pray and pray and find no answer to your prayer?

When you have prayed for many, many long years,

Earnestly and fervently with many bitter tears.

Sometimes God does answer and essential needs are met,

And when He does answer, we so often forget.

There are many things in God's plan we do not understand,

But He will give us complete understanding in the Promised Land.

Don't doubt God if things you don't understand,

Because He has something far better in His divine plan.

What God will give will be far better than for what we prayed,

So look unto Jesus, don't let yourself be fearful and dismayed.

Soon He's coming and will take us home to stay,

And all this earth will burn and soon pass away.

So many things we wanted and prayed for so long,

Will not be needed at home in that Heavenly throng.

God in His wisdom knows when we are poor and bare,

And He knows what is best when He doesn't answer prayer.

And though our hearts may cry and ache,

for through it all, our Lord made not one mistake!
