The Passion Week of Our Lord Jesus Christ
Our Lord entered Jerusalem
riding on a donkey, the foal of an ass,
According to the world He did not enter town with a style of class.
He was meek and lowly, the servant of God and man,
He went to the Last Supper with His disciples then.
From there He went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray alone,
Because He know for man's sins He had come to earth to atone.
He was arrested there and later falsely accused in the Sanhedrin court,
Wicked men spat upon Him and bruised Him and of Him they made sport.
He was condemned by the Jewish leaders to die on a cruel tree,
He was led as a lamb to the crucifixion to die for you and me.
He was taken to Pilate and to Herod, but they could find no fault in Him,
He was taken out as a criminal to be killed, in the light of torches dim.
The earth quaked and the veil of the Temple rent in two,
He said "It is finished", He had paid the price He came to do.
Nicodemus and others buried Him in Joseph's new tomb,
And the dark shadows of death over His body did loom.
But three days later, the stone, by an angel was rolled away,
"He is not here", said the angel, "He did not come here to
stay!"
The women came, and the disciples and looked on,
They saw the empty tomb, He was not there, He was gone!
Jesus Christ loves today, forever victor o'er Hell and the Grave,
He stands victorious forever, the poor lost sinner to save.
Because He arose and loves forever in His Father's house on high,
You and I can be saved and live with Him forever in glory by and by.
