The Hope of Spring

We have had a rough winter, it has been cold and drear,
But we can look with new hope because Spring is near.
Soon will be gone the dead of winter with it's rain and cold,
And soon will the flowers and the leaves come forth so bold.

The birds are returning from the south, I saw a robin today,
And I saw a rabbit by the roadside scurrying to play.
Soon new life will be bursting out everywhere,
The sun will be shining and there is a new song in the air.

Soon the farmers will till the soil and sow the grain,
Soon there will be March flowers and April rain.
from the mountains to the sea,
Spring is coming for you and me.

All the cold icy winds and storms will soon be gone,
And we can bask in the warm sunshine and not feel alone.
The tender bud will put forth it's leaf and the flowers will bloom,
The trees will put forth new foliage and rid us of all winter gloom.

Winter shall not be forever, make way for Spring!
When the roses bloom and the song birds sing.
Hope is eternal in the heart of God's child today,
Spring will soon be here and the drear of winter will be gone away.

Thank God for hope, thank God for  Spring,
Let us bow our hearts and thank God for everything!
New hope springs eternal and God is still on His throne,
And He will change the weather and take care of His own.
