LOST ISRAEL AND SALVATION
(Romans 10:1-21)

The discussion of Israel's position continues, showing why they are now
rejected, and how they (or anyone else--for there is no difference), can
be saved in this age.

1.. THE REASON ISRAEL IS LOST (10:1-4).

That they are lost, evident from verse 1.
a. NOT BECAUSE THEY LACK RELIGIOUS ZEAL. Phil. 3:4-6

Rom. 10:2 "they have a zeal of God"

b. BUT BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT RECEIVE GOD'S RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Rom. 10:3 "have not submitted to..."

Are we like them? Is a. 64:6, Luke 18:13.

2. THE WAY MEN CAN BE SAVED (10:5-10).

a. IT IS NOT BY WORKS:

Rom. 10:4,5, not by law-keeping.
Rom. 10:6,7, not difficult to obtain. Titus 3:5.

b. IT IS BY FAITH:

Rom. 10:8 Freeness of faith: "word is nigh thee"
Rom. 10:9 Evidence of faith: "confess...mouth"
Rom. 10:10 Character of faith: "believe in...heart"
Rom. 10:9 Object of faith: "Jesus
Rom. 10:9 Result of faith: "be saved...salvation"

3. WHO CAN BE SAVED (10:11-13).

As regards salvation, in this age Jew and Gentile are on the same
basis:

a. SALVATION IS AVAILABLE TO ALL. John 3:16

Rom. 10:12 "no difference...Jew...Greek...all"

(See Rom. 3:22,23 "no difference...all sinned")
b. SALVATION IS LIMITED TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE

Rom. 10:13 "all that call upon Him" John 3:36.

4. THE METHOD OF EVANGELIZING (10:14-17').

Rom. 10 :15 Those who live for Christ are to be "sent"

Rom. 10 :15 " " are sent are to "preach"

Rom. 10 :14 " " preach are to make men "hear"

Rom. 10 :14 " " hear are to "believe"

Rom. 10 :14 " " believe are to "call" on Him

Rom. 10 :13 " " call will be SAVED.

5. THE RESPONSE AND THE RESULT (10:18-21).

a. ALL THE WORLD HAS HAD THE WITNESS OF CREATION.

Rom. 10:18 "into all the earth..."

Psalm 19:4 "the heavens declare...all the earth"
b. ISRAEL HAS HAD A SPECIAL AND FULLER WITNESS.

Rom. 10:19-21. Deut. 4:8.
c. BUT ARE A DISOBEDIENT AND GAINSAYING PEOPLE.
