DEATH - RESURRECTION 

(Romans 5:12-21)

I. DEATH: (5:12-14) (Spiritual & Physical)

1. DEFINITION OF DEATH: Separation.

2. CAUSE OF DEATH; Sin - Disobedience to God.
Gen. 2:17 Rom. 6:23

3. CURE FOR DEATH; Resurrection - Spiritual New Birth.
Jo. 5:24, Eph. 2:1, 5-6)
a. PHYSTFAT. DEATH

It is separation of the Spirit and Soul from the body.

2 Cor. 5:1-8, Ecc. 12:7
It was caused by sin: Rom. 5:12
It ends at the resurrection: John 5:28-29
b. SPIRITUAL DEATH; Eph. 2:1,5

It is the separation of the Spirit from God. Man by nature

it spiritually dead. Hence the necessity of being born again.

It was caused by sin - Gen 2:17 It ends for the believer at

conversion. John 5:24, Rom. 8:1 It results, for unbelievers,

in the second death (eternal separation from God - Rev. 21:8
c. SECOND DEATH:

It is eternal separation from God.

2 Thess. 1;9 John 8:21

It is not annihilation...

Gen. 2:7 God made man a living soul.. that soul cannot cease to

exist...

It is eternal existence in the lake of fire

Rev. 21:8

II. RESURRECTION FROM DEATH: 5:15-21

1. IT IS BY: God's gift. God's grace. God's man...Christ Jesus .. .. 5:15

2. IT IS BY RECEIVING: It results in reigning... V. 17

3. IT IS BY IMPUTED RIGHTEOUSNESS. 5:18-19

4. TWO LAWS: Vs. 20-21 (Rom. 8:3)
a. Law of sin brings death...
b. Grace brings eternal life...
