CHAPTER 10:1 - 11:14
THIS IS THE SECOND PARENTHETICAL PASSAG

10:1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:

The mighty angel is the lord Jesus Christ. The description of Him here fits that given in other parts of the book.

a. He came from Heaven. Both His first and second advents.

b. Clothed with a cloud. Symbolic of His glory.

(Transfiguration (Matt. 17:5; Acts 1:9)

c. "A rainbow was upon His head" - Mercy & Grace - 4:3

d. "His face as it were the sun". - Mal. 4:2 (The Son is the sun)

e. "His feet as pillars of fire" - judgment 1:15

f. His voice as a lion roareth He is the lion; V.3; 5:5

10:2 "He sat His right foot upon the sea, and His left foot on
the earth".

1. Here He takes possession of the land and the sea. Psa. 24:1... Col. 1:16

2. The sea symbolized the nations,.

3. The land symbolizes the nation Israel.

4. As the sea separates He separates Israel from the nations. (These two division of humanity

5. The church, which is His bride has already been raptured, and does not figure in this scene.

6. Notice Satan's imitation of this in Rev. Ch. 13 (One beast out of sea. V.I; one out of earth.
a. The first beast is the antichrist, a political leader, probably a Gentile, from the nations.
The second -- the false prophet, satan's counterfeit for the Holy Spirit. Probably from the land, a Jew.

10:2 The little book; Probably same as in 5:1

10:3-4 Seven Thunders - Seven is the number of perfection. Thunder
speaks of an approaching storm. This announces the completion of the pouring out of God's wrath in the latter half of the tribulation period. This is soon to come.. Rev. 15:1

10:5-6 Time is soon to run out. At this point, the time of the Gen-
tiles is about over. The time of Christ's kingdom reign soon
to begin. (See Rev. 11:1-2, Luke 21:24)

10:8-11 The sweetness of God's truth. His word to the believer. The
bitterness of God's judgment and wrath on the rejectors.
Both will be revealed and experienced as this age comes to an end in the tribulation period.

CHAPTER 11: 1-14

Vs. l-2: The different temples of Jerusleum

1. Solomon's temple. 1 King. 7: Destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar in 588 B.C.

2. Zerubbabel's temple, Ezra 3:12 taken by Antiochus in 170 B.C.

3. Herod's temple. Jo. 2:20 20 B.C. - Titus 70 A.D.

4. Tribulation temple. This is it. 2 Thess. 2-4

5. The Millennial temple. See Ezek. 40:48; Acts 15:16

THE TWO WITNESSES Vs. 3-12

1. Two is the number of competent witnesses.

a. God invariably uses (2) witnesses. Matt. 18:16

b. (2) angels attest the resurrection. Jo. 20:12

c. Two angels witness the ascension and promise the second

coming. Acts 1:10
d. The 12 and the 70 were sent out 2 by 2 - Lk. 10:1

Vs. 3: God empowers those He sends to witness.

1. They were protected to prophesy 3 1/2 years. Probably
the first half of the tribulation period

2. Clothed in sachcloth. Speaks of their humility

3. They called men to humility and repentance.

Vs. 4: Olive trees furnish oil for lamps. Type of the Holy Spirit.
Men witness through power of Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8....
(For explanation study Zechariah, Chapter Four).

1. These two witnesses show forth God's power and God's
light in a darkened hour of judgment.

2. They extend God's invitation and message.

Vs. 5: God protects them as He has promised to do all His witnesses.

(Mark 16:15-18)

Vs. 6: They cannot be hurt until their testimony finished.

WHO ARE THEY?

1. Because of the parallel between their miracles and ministry
of those of Moses and Elijah, many think that they will be
Moses and Elijah.

2. Because Enoch and Elijah were translated and did not die,
and because of Heb. 9:27 many think that they will be Enoch
and Elijah.

3. Scripture nowhere reveals specifically who they are.

Vs. 7-12 When their ministry is completed the anti-christ is permitted to kill them.

1. Their dead bodies lie in the streets of Jerusalem for three and a half days.

2. Their death occasions a world - wide celebration

3. After three and a half days their dead bodies are resurrected and they are translated to Heaven.
