1 - Matt. 5:14-16; Phil. 2:15-16; Matt. 25:1-13; II Pet. 1:19

2 - Jesus is the Light of the World.....the Son is the S U N.

3 - He will yet return as the bright and morning star . Mal. 4:2; Isa. 60:1-3

4 - In the absence of Christ, the Light, the Church, (typified by the moon) which has no light of itself, is commanded to shine for Him by reflection.
5 - The power to do so, is the power of Holy Spirit,

OUTLINE OF THE MESSAGE CONTAINED IN ALL SEVEN OF THESE LETTERS:

 

THE CHARACTER OF THE ONE WHO SENDS THE LETTERS. HE IS THE ONE WHO SEES AND JUDGES THE CHURCHES - "I AM HE".

 

I - CHRIST IS OMNIPOTENT:

2:1 "He that holdeth the seven stars.
2: 8 "First and last...was dead, and is alive."
2:12 "He which hath the sharp sword with two edges"

2:18 "The Son of God"

3:1 "He that hath the seven spirits of God."

3:7 "He is holy, His power unlimited.

3:14 "He is the beginning of the creation of God"

 

II - CHRIST IS OMNIPRESENT:

2:1 "Walketh in the midst of the seven Golden Candlesticks
2:8 "Was dead and is alive"

III - CHRIST IS OMNISCIENT:

2:2 "I know thy works" This is repeated (7) times
2:18 "Eyes like unto a flame of Fire".

a. He knows about the labor and patience of His own. 2:2
b. He knows about their suffering and poverty, also the hypocrisy of pretenders. 2:9
c. He knows where we dwell, our steadfastness. 2:13
d. He knows about our faith and service. 2:19
e. He knows the true character. 3:1
f. He knows the strength and weakness. 3:8
g. He knows their true relationship to Him. 3:15
