Follow The Light

THE  T. V.  CHURCH

I used to go to a fine Church
that was as friendly as could be.
But the preacher’s words often, I felt,
were aimed exclusively at me.

So I stayed home from Church one day
and watched "Church" on the T.V.
The singers sang such glorious songs,
but not a one of them hugged me.

I listened to a preacher preach,
first one, then two, then three.
But although their messages were good,
not a one shook hands with me.

I lay in bed, oh, I was so sick,
and heard the prayers prayed on T.V.
But although they used some powerful prayers,
no one prayed here with me.

I sent in some money ‘most every month
to keep the preachers on T.V.
But ‘though I asked if they could come…
no one ever visited me.

Alas, I died so all alone,
still watching a Church on my T.V.
But no one cared that I’d passed away
nor came to bury me.

I then met the Lord on judgment day
to start my eternity.
But since I’d shunned the local Church,
no friends were there to greet me.

If I had another chance on earth,
there’s a message you’d hear from me.
Find a warm and caring Church to join
and don’t embrace the cold T.V.

The T.V. Church has it’s place
when you must be an absentee,
but as soon as you are well enough,
come, worship God in Church with me.
