Follow The Light

The Prisoner in the Ornate Picture Frame

Someone gave me a lovely painting

showing Christ Jesus by a door,

so I bought a golden picture frame

from a local antique store.

I hung it in a prominent place

and was pondering my prize,

reflecting on its beauty

'til a voice caught me by surprise.

"Dear one, do not gaze on Me

with admiration on your face,

for I came as a lowly Servant

bringing mercy, love and grace.

I don't want you to hang Me

in an expensive ornate frame,

while you keep Me on the outside

and never call me by My Name.

The picture exalts the painter,

not the One the picture's about,

and the painter gets the glory

while I remain shut out.

Dear one, don't keep Me locked up

while you gaze upon My face,

but welcome Me within your heart...

let Me fill you with my grace."

I knelt down to unlock my heart

and felt such sweet release

as The Prisoner left the picture frame,

giving me His love and peace.
